Making Sushi Rice/Being good at what's most important

From now on, I will focus on making rice (you can read Seth Godin' s blog post  below to see what I mean). Instead of focusing on what's important, I do everything else, except what's important. First, make rice Fledgling sushi chefs spend months (sometimes years) doing nothing but making the rice for the head chef. If the rice isn't right, it really doesn't matter what else you do, you're not going to be able to serve great sushi. Most of the blogging and writing that goes on about marketing assumes that you already know how to make the rice. It assumes you understand copywriting and graphic design, that you've got experience in measuring direct response rates, that you've made hundreds of sales calls, have an innate empathy for what your customers want and think and that you know how to make a compelling case for what you believe. Too often, we quickly jump ahead to the new thing, failing to get good enough at the imp...

A different kind of stupid

I came home from work and it will my daily habit to head to Seth Godin's blog. Other jobs require a different sort of hard work: the guts to be wrong, a confrontation with the risk of being stupid. [full post below] Confronting stupid Some gigs are process oriented: Set up a process correctly and the rest takes care of itself. It's challenging and frightening to get it right, but after that, you merely have to do the hard work of showing up each day. Do the work and you'll get the results. Other jobs require a different sort of hard work: the guts to be wrong, a confrontation with the risk of being stupid. The comedian who fears that each new joke might fail, the writer who has to say something new, the leader who must improvise, solving new problems on a regular basis. What makes this work hard is that it might not work. More and more people now have jobs that require them to confront the risk of appearing stupid on a regular basis.

Lost in your eyes (photographs)

I had  stumbled upon a Vietnamese showbiz website and found these beautiful images of popular Asian stars and I wanted to share them with you.  I still never understand why "Asian" females were or are considered exotic beauties, but this beautiful Chinese actress,  Triệu Tá» Kỳ, is so gorgeous! With her hair pulled back, defined brows, red lips, and monotone dress, you can loose yourself in her eyes forever. I don't have many chances to see  many Asian fashion/makeup magazines/images and so it's good to be out of the box.

Lisa Eldridge! You have to watch her tutorials! A MUST!

I am determined, very determined to be a great makeup artist, within the next 5 years. 6 +1 reasons why I love playing and experimenting with makeup:  Makeup is very therapeutic, a therapeutic friendship. Every woman/girl will experiment with such beauty products because who doesn't want to help themselves look more beautiful. Therefore a great industry to be in, it's beneficial for myself to learn to look my best when I want to. Makeup= art. I can't really draw nor paint, therefore, makeup is an extension of that artistic expression I am very bad at it thus far. Over one year and yet I haven't been able to do much= personal challenge I really want to put my words into action & use products from Beyoumakeupshop to do what I intend them to for my customers.  I not only want to sell the products, I want to offer the experiences, the emotions of that red lip, or those dark smoky eyes to people who were like myself. I want to sell the magic ju...

Burberry CEO inspirational article

"she's all talent and no pretension." You have to see it to believe it is my personal take on dreamers achieving their dreams.   I'd like to share an article linked by a friend from wherelse but Facebook regarding the Burberry CEO Angela Ahrendts and how she balances work and life "Earning Her Stripes". As young women, despite your career goals, I believe it's really important to learn from others who have gone before us. Of course reading it, I didn't understand everything because I've never been a part of high fashion nor work with such luxurious brands, but it's a good read (6 pages I believe)! Even if we read about a woman who achieves amazing success and has done incredibly things but we do not know of her company or brand, it doesn't motivate or inspire us as much. However, since this is vice versa ( I think a lot of people know of Burberry), it impacts us more and we think to ourselves, "hey, I can do that!" She gr...

I need to challenge myself (letter to self)

Today I walked and walked from place to place in the rain- I was at times very discouraged to keep doing what I did. I didn't have to- but it is what I need to, for myself.  Since my internship with the Southwestern Company-selling books door to door- I told myself I would not let myself regret chances/opportunities again. I did not do as great as I had wanted to with the internship. That summer of selling books was suppose to instill in me strong work ethics- to push me to my limits and beyond. It did.  I promise myself from then on that I would not give up on myself because "things" I will encounter are difficult. Each experience, I would push myself to do better, to be better. For me, I feel that I need to go through many difficult and challenging experiences so that I can grow, define myself, and be that person I've always wanted to be. This is my barely second day-but I am proud of myself for walking and walking (well, driving too) when I felt that I ...

Fall Season From Around the World

Today has been cloudy and cold, even some rain earlier.  Fall and Winter seems to always bring with them feelings of sadness, don't you think so? It must be really beautiful in other parts of the world, well the other states even, when leaves transform colors and they fall on your head. Or when you jump over a pile of them and giggle until your stomach hurts. California-eh, not so much. Below are some photos I've found online of amazingly gorgeous of what Fall season is like in other parts of the world. WOW, isn't this gorgeous in Russia?! "Old bridge over low water" Season end in Cismigiu Garden of Bucharest, Romania I am not sure where this breathtaking tree is from, somewhere in the USA =) Look at how different the textures appear to be within the trees (Romania) Surreal & edited picture of Spielberk castle, Brno, Czech Republic.  Pumpkin patches here in the States! ....Finally, Fall season in Northern California, USA -_- Califo...

Fall 2010 Dark eyes & bold lips vs. Dark eyes & glowing cheeks

Dark eyes & bold lips vs. Dark eyes & glowing cheeks Fall 2010     vs.  Inspiration Diane Von Furstenburg's 2010 Fall Runway Makeup trend of a woman " changing, evolving like a butterfly." He "layered lids and undereyes with a black cream shadow, and gave the inner corners a little sparkle" and the result "is multidimensional eye makeup that looks a little different from each angle." My trial I've adapted this look to be softer for this upcoming Fall season , something more "wearable" for my personal taste , with some color into the inner corner . I've always added glowing cheeks with a bronzer and highlighter and , semi nude matte lips with touch of "bronzey" eyeshadow. *Whenever I practice with makeup, I don't often create the same look for both of my eyes. It's usually 1 look for 1 eye, another look for the other, or another version of it with something different. (Just in case you ...

A determined spirit.

A Determined Spirit Author Unknown Once upon a time, a small bird named Tasoo lived in a vast jungle. One hot summer day, a terrible wildfire erupted and the flames devoured many trees and animals living in the jungle. Other birds flew high into the sky and far away to safety, but Tasoo couldn't bear to leave her precious jungle home to burn. Day and night, she flew with all her might back and forth to the river, filling her tiny beak with water to drop on the raging fires. Tasoo's rare heart of courage and unshakable determination moved the heavenly gods to shed tears, and a great rain poured down upon the jungle, extinguishing the flames. And so it is that even the smallest actions of a determined spirit can change the world. According to our highly-esteemed sources, this beautiful story is from a popular parable that originated with the Quechua (Incan) Indians of South America. Source: Inspirationpeak.com TENACITY. "I believe that beauty comes from within."

Public libraries are one of those things that I am so grateful for and can spend the whole day there because there are so many, so many books, books on every topic you can think of. They are all there. I love books. Books bring you into another world and definitely can give you different perspectives because information equals knowledge. I was able to pick up a couple of books that I thought were useful for "beauty" tips and knowledge and I will do my best in due time to pick out the best tips and etc..to share with you.                  +BOBBI BROWN TEENGAGE BEAUTY                    Everything you need to look pretty, natural, sexy & awesome                    Bobbi Brown & Annemarie Iverson  ...
